CNC Machines Product Range

The CNC Machines Division has pioneered several industry-pertinent processes in India, with expertise and a track-record for innovation that dates back to 1941.

At that point in Indian industrial history, the Walchand Group acquired controlling shares in Satara Industrial Works and rechristened the operations to Cooper Engineering Ltd. During the early years of World War II, the British government transferred drawings from the well-known British machine tool company - Alfred Herbert, Coventry to Cooper and mandated the company for the manufacture of machines to be supplied to the U.K. as the Indian contribution to the war effort. With this, the company pioneered the advent of machine tool building in India.

In 1961, production of machine tools was shifted from Satara to the plant at Chinchwad. The company’s machine tool manufacturing range grew massively in scope during the '60s and ‘70s, on the heels of various technical collaborations with internationally established companies in Europe and Japan. While these collaborations were eventually phased out in favor of greater autonomy, the rights to use the machine designs continue.

In 1987, the CNC Machine Division was purchased by Premier and the wide range of products is now marketed under this trusted banner.

We are a leading manufacturer of large and heavy duty CNC machines such as CNC Gear Hobbing, Shaping and Shaving machines, CNC Gear Tooth Chamfering and Rounding Machines, Vertical turnmill centres, Vertical and Horizontal Machining centres and Special purpose Machines.

A CUSTOMER-CENTRIC INNOVATION

Recently, Premier got the opportunity to develop the CNC Horizontal Machining Center (HMC) Model HB–1000 for Chittranjan Locomotive Works for machining of railway engine parts.

Typically, HMCs are equipped with ‘milling spindles’. However, to meet the deep boring requirements of the customer's component, Premier developed the HMC with traversing-type precision ‘boring spindle’ (quill), co-axially mounted in the milling spindle.

Such an innovative effort has added another feather to our cap in new product development for state-of-theart technology, and credit goes to Mr. YA Shivaram, AGM Design and Development, Bengaluru.
